DaTSHealth: Digital Health Powered by Data

DaTSHealth: Digital Health Powered by Data

DaTSHealth* is a training program led by Institut Polytechnique de Paris that addresses the major transformations in healthcare driven by the rise of big data, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies. It is part of the broader initiative of the Engineering for Health (E4H) interdisciplinary center and aligns with IP Paris’s excellence programs.

Funded through the France 2030 “Compétences et Métiers d’Avenir ” call and supported by the French National Research Agency (ANR), DaTSHealth promotes a cross-disciplinary data-driven training approach for sustainable digital health, structured around three main pillars:

  • Training: Educating engineers and young researchers in health data sciences;
  • Awareness: Introducing young people to the challenges of digital health;
  • Educational Resources: Producing and disseminating knowledge on digital health.

Director of the DaTSHealth Program at Institut Polytechnique de Paris: Nesma HOUMANI, Ph.D.

Dr. Nesma Houmani is a faculty member and researcher in neuroengineering. Her work lies at the intersection of signal and image processing, statistical modeling of multi-source data, and machine learning.

Since 2019, she has served as the Coordinator of the Health Engineering Track at Télécom SudParis, a program designed to train well-rounded digital engineers in health technologies while fostering a deep understanding of their applications, as well as the societal and ethical issues they raise.

In 2023, Dr. Houmani developed a transdisciplinary track within the DaTSHealth program at Institut Polytechnique de Paris. This initiative addresses the entire health data value chain—from data collection and storage to processing, analysis, and translation into actionable insights. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to harness health data as a catalyst for innovation in diagnostics, patient monitoring, therapeutic prediction, hospital management, and public health.

Beyond her academic and research activities, Dr. Houmani is deeply engaged in outreach initiatives promoting digital health literacy among young audiences, inspiring future careers and contributing to the broader dissemination of scientific culture.
