"Women in the Francophonie: From Letters to Sciences" Conference

18 Mar. 2025
The International Center for French Language and Culture at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), in collaboration with the Department of Languages and Cultures at École Polytechnique, is organizing an international Francophonie day on March 18, 2025, which will focus on "Women in the Francophonie: From Letters to Sciences."
"Women in the Francophonie: From Letters to Sciences" Conference

On this occasion, the Center will host four public lectures: the first in mathematics (Laure Saint-Raymond), the second in medical robotics (Jocelyne Troccaz), the third in literature (Delphine Grouès), and finally, the last in nanoscience (Hélène Bouchiat).

Two round tables are organized around the following theme: "French, Women, and Sciences." These will bring together scientists from the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres, the Collège de France, ENS, ENSTA, École Polytechnique, and many other French and international institutions. They will discuss their own relationship with science, French as a scientific language, and finally, the link between women and scientific research.

International students from IP Paris will present their work through readings and presentations throughout the day. They will discuss women scientists in their countries and read texts by French-speaking writers.
