About

Join us for the next E4C Summer School focused on "Environmental Data Collection and Analysis for the Social Sciences."

Participants will explore methods and applications related to climate change, biodiversity, mobility, and societal impacts through discussions and hands-on sessions. This event offers an opportunity to learn, exchange ideas, and connect with researchers in the field.

The summer school will explore the quantitative methods for quantifying externalities such as carbon emissions, biodiversity loss, public health impacts, and inequalities,  encouraging interdisciplinary thinking on these topics.
The objective is to equip participants with hands-on experience in environmental data collection methods, including surveys, remote sensing, experiments, and sensor-based monitoring, emphasizing their applications in applied research.
This implies a focus on teaching how to clean, visualize, and analyze large environmental datasets using statistics and econometrics, as well as computer science and machine learning tools, enabling participants to draw meaningful insights about the interactions between environmental factors and economic and social dynamics.

This weeklong program is designed for graduate students in economics, social sciences, environmental science, public policy, and related fields.

Highlights include:

  • Lectures by leading researchers
  • Small-group tutorials and practical sessions to apply the tools and methods of data science learned during the lectures
  • Real-world applications in climate change, biodiversity, mobility and societal impacts
